Sundowner Zambezi Lodge

Sundowner Zambezi Lodge is set on what used to be known as "grassy banks", over looking the "Deka Tiger Mile". We are close to the confluence of the Deka and mighty Zambezi River. The lodge commands a sweeping panaromic view over one of the most beautiful bends of this magnificent river. Situated 140 kilometers from the famous Victoria Falls and 150 kilometers from Hwange National Park, makes it an ideal location with access to these Western Zimbabwe Tourism highlights.

Guests are accommodated in the following accommodation (all with en-suite bathrooms):

• Two spacious natural stone & thatch Lodges (2 or 3 beds) with river views
• Three twin bed units with partial river or riverine forest view
• A spacious family cottage (also ideal for small groups - 2-4 beds) with partial river view

Relax around the swimming pool or under the thatched boma. The lodge offers a Bar, dining room, recreational area, braai area and a stunning verandah where you can watch the resident hippo and fish eagles. To cool off on those hot days a sparkling swimming pool is available is set behind the boma for guests privacy. Staff are on hand at all times for your convenience.

The Lodge is situated a stones throw away from the river, giving anglers easy access to famous tiger fishing areas (known as DEKA TIGER MILE) that have stood the test of time. Fishing is explosive in this region with a variety of freshwater sport fish to keep anglers on the edge of their seats. Catch varieties like the famous Tiger Fish, Nkupe, Chessa, Bream and Vundu.

Boats are available with experienced driver/fishing guides who will show you where to fish and teach you the techniques – should you wish.
There are a number of beautiful walks in the area, Guests can be accompanied by one of our experienced guides. The surrounding bush around the lodge ranges from Riverine forest, beach islands to Mopani woodlands, thus offering a diversity of birdlife and landscape.

Game drive viewing can be arranged at the Hwange National Park (5 hour return drive to Park entrance).

Ideal destination for soft adventure activities including mountain biking, trail running and hiking.

Booking Information

Groups larger than 10 have the option of being hosted by one of the lodge owners who assists guests with local formalities (customs/immigration etc) as well providing personalized expertise on fishing, birding while at the lodge.

Special rates can be negotiated for larger groups. The rate of discount will be determined by:

• The size of the group, duration of the stay and special facilities or arrangements needed for the group

All discounted bookings must be confirmed at the time the booking is made. No discounts may be applied retrospectively. The discount effected will be subject to strict compliance with the factors considered at the time the discount was negotiated. Any changes to these factors will affect the rate of discount and may lead to the discount being withdrawn in part or in whole.
